The Marsh is a full length play (65 minutes) set in a courtyard off the Lower Marsh Market. The action takes place across two days in 1890. 

The characters are:

Mari, a flower seller in her 60s. Mari has visions of a future world in which there does not appear to be space for her or her friends. 

Lizzie, a flower seller in her late 20s who works with Mari. She is from a Covent Garden family of flower sellers and has moved to the Lambeth side with her husband, who has a chest condition and cannot at the moment work. They have three young children.

Dirty Gertie, a rag seller from a long line of rag sellers. 

Felicity Veracity, a charity worker from a university settlement charity

George, a charity worker from a poverty survey

A Policeman

The cast for the reading are:

Mari - Carol Morgan

Carol has appeared in a number of indie films and at various London theatres: most recently - the Young Vic, the Park, and the Lion and the Unicorn. 

Lizzie - Anne Hayward 

Anne has appeared in a number of indie films and also in theatres such as the Blue Elephant, Quaestors and The Park theatre. 

Dirty Gertie - Katerina (Rena) Jugati

Katerina has been in West End/National Theatre hit 'The Wtiches' and Rose Tattoo and more recently has performed at the Young Vic. Her TV credits include London's Burning and The Bill.

Felicity Veracity - Ingrid Berglund

Ingrid is Swedish and came to London, awhile ago, to study acting. She has since retrained as a councillor and therapist and uses drama in her practice. 

All the men - Tom Keller

Tom is an experienced actor who has most recently been seen in the second series of The Gold on TV. Amongst his other TV credits are Call The Midwife, People Just Do Nothing and Back to Life.
